Betfred Is Moving Into Iowa’s Sports Betting Market

Betfred Grand Falls

Betfred has inked a technology and operations deal with the Elite Casino Resorts to provide domestic and online sports wagering to Iowa customers.

With domestic sports betting spreading across the United States so fiercely it is no surprise that Iowa is getting in on the action and calling in the big guns to help them be successful.

Betfred has over 1600 retail stores in the United Kingdom and over 50 years of experience in the sports betting industry. The company was founded in 1967 with a single store in Salford, UK., a suburb of Manchester.

Over the years Betfred has grown into the international gaming company they are today by shifting their focus to mobile and online sportsbooks and now with the help of Vegas-based SCCG management they are looking to gain access to more American sports betting markets.

Elite Casino Resorts operates three resort casinos in Iowa and is majority owned by the Kehl family. The Kehl family has had their hands in Iowa gaming since they were awarded the first ever gaming operator’s license in 1990. They used that license to offer gambling cruises from the United States.

In July of 2019, Betfred was approved as an out-of-state vendor for Grand Falls Casino by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

Iowa Sports Betting Launch And Details

Domestic sports betting is set to launch August 15th at noon. Online sports betting will be allowed but bettors will have to prove their age and identity at a physical casino before they will be authorized to bet online.

Iowa will be the 11th state to start accepting sports bets from residents and visitors over the age of 21 after the PASPA act was repealed by the Supreme Court of the United States in 2018.
